HOW PINNIE
WORKS.

A 2-minute guide to the sideline
๐ŸŽฝ

Make Groups

Turn one number into fair, bib-colored teams โ€” the math is done for you.

1
Open Make Groups and pick what youโ€™re setting: team size, number of teams, or number of fields.
2
Type the number. Pinnie splits everyone marked Here and assigns each team a real pinnie color.
3
Need it fairer or friendlier? Add keep-together / keep-apart rules, rank ability, or limit to the bib colors you actually own โ€” then re-generate.

The 3s 4s 2 quick-split buttons on the Home screen jump straight to a common split.

Track Subs & Playtime

Run the clock and keep every kidโ€™s minutes fair without a spreadsheet.

1
In Game setup, choose your field size (how many play at once) and period length, then set your starting lineup.
2
Tap Start. The clock runs and each player on the field banks minutes.
3
To sub, tap a player coming off, then one going on โ€” Pinnie logs the swap and keeps the running totals.
4
Fairness bars surface who needs minutes; a gentle nudge reminds you to shuffle. Open the breakdown any time to see totals and goalkeeper time.

Games are saved on the device โ€” closing or reloading the app mid-match wonโ€™t lose the clock or the log.

Focus โ€” how they're playing

Subs answers โ€œhas everyone played enough?โ€. Focus answers the other half: pick one thing to watch today, and log a quick read on each rep โ€” live, one-handed, without looking down.

1
Pick a template (First touch, Passing decision, 1v1 defendingโ€ฆ) and the handful of players you'll actually be watching. Three or four is plenty.
2
Every rep gets two reads at once: did they do it right, and did it work. Tap a player and the four squares slide up โ€” or flick their tile toward a corner and it logs straight away.
3
The corners never move: up is right technique, right is it worked. Up-right is clean and kept it; down-left is the one to break down.
4
End the session for a summary, and share it. So far this season adds up every session on that template, so you can see whether it's actually improving.

The two mismatch squares are the whole point. Right, but it didn't work is worth reinforcing anyway โ€” they did what you asked. Wrong, but it worked is the one to catch, before the result teaches the habit. That's why the summary reports % right separately from the result.

A flick within about 15ยฐ of straight up, down, left or right doesn't guess โ€” it opens the squares instead, so an ambiguous thumb never logs the wrong thing. Prefer taps? โš™ Focus options can lock it to tap-only, or make the flick shorter or longer. A straight up or down drag scrolls the board.

Focus works entirely on its own โ€” you never need to start a game on Subs to use it. It's just as useful at practice.

Roster

Your list of players, and who showed up today.

  • Tap a player to flag them Here or Out โ€” only Here players go into Groups and Subs.
  • Add or remove players any time; the present count updates everywhere instantly.
  • Keep more than one team (e.g. two age groups) and switch between them from the team name at the top.

First time in, Pinnie shows a clearly-labeled sample team so you can look around. Clear it and add your own whenever youโ€™re ready.

Backup & move devices

Your data lives only on this device โ€” a backup lets you copy it, or move it to another phone.

1
On Roster, tap the team name โ–พ and choose Copy backup code or Download backup file.
2
On the other phone, open Pinnie โ†’ Restore from backupโ€ฆ and paste the code or pick the file.

Do a backup before clearing browser data or switching phones โ€” thereโ€™s no server copy to fall back on.

๐Ÿ“ฒ

Put it on your phone

Install Pinnie to launch it full-screen and use it with no signal.

i
iPhone (Safari): tap Share โ†’ Add to Home Screen. (iOS only installs from Safari.)
A
Android (Chrome): tap the Install app prompt, or โ‹ฎ menu โ†’ Install app / Add to Home screen.

Once installed, it opens straight to your tools and works offline on the touchline.

Privacy

Pinnie is local-only by design.

  • Your roster, lineups and sub logs are stored in the browser on your device.
  • Nothing is sent to or stored on any server. There are no accounts and no tracking.
  • The only way data leaves the device is a backup you export and share.
  • Player names โ€” usually kidsโ€™ โ€” never reach us. First names are all Pinnie needs.

Pinnie contacts no one โ€” no analytics, no ads, not even a font server. The full privacy policy โ†’ spells out every detail.
